This programme introduces you to the world of the allied health professions within the North East and Yorkshire, and will help you understand the diverse opportunities and careers within the sector.
What's included
In this programme, you’ll explore the diverse careers within allied health - from radiography, dietetics, and speech and language therapy. Plus, you’ll get an insight into the responsibilities, progression opportunities and pathways found within each career. You’ll complete a series of quizzes and fun activities to help build your understanding of the health and care sector.
This module will take you through all of the essential information you need to know about the allied health professions. Covering the distinct and varied roles within the allied health professions, we’ll look at careers, opportunities, and organisations in your local region!
In this module, we’ll paint a picture of what dietetics and speech & language therapy look like. You’ll explore these allied health professions' vital role in fostering holistic well-being, from personalised nutrition plans to enhancing communication abilities. You’ll examine pathways and the specific roles available in these two areas of the allied health profession; plus, you’ll discover opportunities in the Northeast, so stay tuned!
There’s lots of different opportunities and careers within the allied health professions. Podiatrists are skilled experts at helping patients with foot problems; meanwhile, operating department practitioners are an essential part of any procedure. From the specific roles and responsibilities to the various pathways into these rewarding career areas, you’ll gain a foundational understanding that will shape and build your overall knowledge of the allied health profession.
This module will introduce students to the field of prosthetics, exploring prosthetic devices, how they support individuals who have lost limbs, and their impact on mobility, independence, and quality of life. You’ll also learn what orthotic devices are and how they are used to support or correct musculoskeletal issues, improving mobility, posture, and comfort for people with a wide range of conditions. You’ll discover how prosthetic and orthotic services are delivered locally in Humber and North Yorkshire, including the types of clinics, innovations, and career opportunities available in the region.
Occupational therapy is an essential support area for individuals adapting to a new normal after an illness, injury, or accident, or even for those trying to lead an independent life. But what does this involve? This module will cover the responsibilities, specialities, and pathways you can take to succeed in this career.
You might think a career in this sector feels right for you! In this module, you will learn which skills you’ll need to flourish within health and care. You’ll dive into top skills in health and care, along with an insight into recognising your strengths and aiming high. Additionally, you will have a look at your strengths and weaknesses in a self-evaluation activity so you know where to improve!

Yes, you can sign up to multiple programmes with us.
Most of our programmes require students to be in school/college. Some programmes require students to be based in specific regions of the UK, this is stipulated by the organisations themselves, and is not defined by Springpod.
However, the ages mentioned on our programmes are more of a guideline than a strict limit. As such, we more than welcome older students to apply as well!
You will receive a certificate on completion of your programme. It will be made available to download whenever your programme is marked as complete.
